ABOUT / GABBY

Driven by
the why.

“Science begins with curiosity.”

I am a Chemical Engineering student at Case Western Reserve University, interested in the intersection of experimental chemistry, materials science, and data-driven research.

From investigating antioxidant stability in the laboratory to studying how particles arrange under stress, I’m motivated by the microscopic details that explain larger scientific phenomena.

PROJECT / 001

IB CHEMISTRY · EXTENDED ESSAY

How heat changes
lycopene.

Independent research · Klaipėda Lyceum

An experimental study of how thermal processing changes the stability and extractability of lycopene in round and plum tomatoes. Samples were heated under controlled conditions and analyzed using solvent extraction and UV–Vis spectrophotometry at 503 nm.

IB CHEMISTRY · INTERNAL ASSESSMENT

The chemistry of
vitamin C.

Independent research · Klaipėda Lyceum

A comparison of microwave and stovetop heating and their effect on vitamin C concentration in orange juice. The project used standardized iodine solutions, iodometric titration, and statistical analysis to assess nutrient stability under heat.

01 / THE BIG PICTURE

Overall research

Our research group investigates the rheological behavior of dense suspensions, with a focus on how applied shear stress influences viscosity, particle interactions, and material flow.

02 / MY CONTRIBUTION

My research focus

I study the response of individual particles to shear stress: how they rearrange, interact, and form ordered structures. Using MATLAB and simulation data, I analyze particle positions, frictional contacts, and structural changes to better understand bulk suspension behavior.
